Design and Looks
The phone measures at 119x62x17mm weighing about 188g. The design of the phone is simple and does not have an innovative design that stands out. Its simple and more functional to appeal.
The front of the device sports a large 3.8 inch touch screen with speaker and a video calling camera. There is also a light sensor included on the phone. The screen can display a resolution of 800x400 pixels with 65000 colors. It supports Handwriting recognition and also comes along with a Finger print recognition feature.
The keyboard on the Acer M900 is the full QWERTY when it slides out. The keys on the keyboard are well placed and there is equal spacing between them. There are total of 41 keys on board the keyboard.
The M900 comes big when it comes to security featuring a fingerprint swipe and PIN combo using the Golden Finger Settings. To setup the fingerprint option the finger needs to be swiped 4 times before it stores the information. If by any means it fails to recognize the stored pattern then one can over ride the function using the PIN combination.
On the interface front the phone features the Acer Shell which kind of has 3 home pages in one. The screen features multiple widgets such as contacts, music player, gallery and so on which make it easier to invoke the applications.

The photo can be taken at a maximum resolution of 2560x1920 pixels and there effects such as sepia, grayscale, negative and mirror, four white balance settings along with a 4x digital zoom. The M900 is able to take video at a resolution of 640x480 pixels in 3GP format which is not of any high standards but does a decent job.
On the communication front the phone is a quad band phone making it usable worldwide. The phone offers a 3G connection, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0 with stereo A2DP. The phone connects swiftly and has no problems getting on Wi-Fi or 3G.
The media player on the phone is built by Acer featuring basic playing capabilities , the video output on the phone again is average and plays without any lag.
The phone supports GPS which comes with A-GPS and uses the Google Maps application which comes pre-installed on the phone. Other features on the handset include the full version of Microsoft Office which makes it easy to read and view PowerPoint presentations as well as Word and Excel documents.
Overall the phone is packed with feature but comes at a steep price indicating to a higher niche market. The fingerprint innovation is a nice but does not prove to be a must have on a phone.
